Publish a Community Book – All Ages
Would you like to tell your community’s story in a full colour paperback book?
A Kids’ Own Teaching Artist will work with your students over one term to explore the publishing process through a combination of the following: photocopied origami and digital book techniques (using the WePublish app); peer to peer learning/student mentoring (older years); collaborative writing; art-making for book illustration; and the editing and design of a 16 or 20-page full colour paperback book with ISBN, launched with hoopla at the end of the project.
Students (yes, even the youngest) direct theme and genre and books have included, amongst others, fiction set in the local neighbourhood, a newspaper, and an imaginary travel guide.
Includes 2 hour Professional Learning workshop for staff.
